In the world elite of the one hundred thousand most cited scientists in the last 24 years there are 37 Apulian and Lucanian, of which 24 from the University of Bari, 4 from the University of Salento, 2 from Foggia and 2 from Basilicata. Moreover, there are two other scientists from the San Carlo Hospital in Potenza, a researcher from the National Institute of Nuclear Physics in Bari and only two, among the outstanding of the Stanford University ranking, are from Bari Polytechnic.
